BIOGRAPHY
Jesse earned an undergraduate degree in Middle Grades Language Arts and Social Studies and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, both from NC State. Jesse was recognized as Dillard Drive Middle School's Teacher of the Year and as a Wake County Teacher of the Year Finalist in 2016. Jesse spent the first seven years of his teaching career at Dillard Drive Middle School as a social studies and language arts teacher, where he also served as Leadership Team Chair, Yearbook Advisor, and Mentor. Jesse served as the Principal Resident at Alston Ridge Middle School from July 2019 to March 2020. Jesse is currently the Assistant Principal at Lufkin Road Middle School. As a high schooler, Jesse began working with kids by teaching at Sunday School and through the PEPI program at Leesville Road High School. Jesse knew he wanted to became a teacher his junior year. Jesse's Honors English teacher, Sheba Lowe exhibited passion and the ability to light a fire under students who didn't reach their fullest potential. Because of the impact Mrs. Lowe had on Jesse, he knew that he wanted to make that same impression on his future students. As an educator, Jesse tries to help his students set high expectations for themselves and help to make sure they make progress towards those goals. Jesse prides himself on his ability to become a mentor, tutor, confidant, behavior specialist, and supporter to his young male students.
Jesse considers himself to be a lifelong learner and feels truly lucky to have the opportunity to participate in the Wake Principal Leadership Program at NC State. Jesse is a product of the Wake County Public School System (Pleasant Union Elementary, West Millbrook Middle, and Leesville Road High) and looks forward to serving the county for years to come. #WhatStartsHereChangesEverything
